| | EnMAP Ground Segment Critical Design Review finished successfully June 21, 2010 he ground segment of the satellite mission EnMAP (Environmental Mapping and Analysis Program) reached a major milestone when it successfully completed its Critical Design Review (CDR). On July 21, 2010 an independent review board, comprised of reviewers from DLR (German Aerospace Center), ESA (European Space Agency), and GFZ (German Research Centre for Geosciences) certified that the maturity of the EnMAP ground segment design is appropriate to support proceedings with production, integration, technical verification, and operational validation. This leads to full readiness for in-orbit operations of the first German spaceborne hyperspectral Earth observing mission EnMAP planned to be launched in 2014. more _________________________________________________ EnMAP Mailing List available June 21, 2010 Join the EnMAP mailing list to receive and exchange information related to the EnMAP scientific mission. more. _________________________________________________ 2. National EnMAP Workshop in Potsdam, GermanyJune 17, 2010 The second national EnMAP workshop will take place on the 25th and 26th of November 2010 at the Helmholtz Centre Potsdam GFZ, Germany. The workshop is devoted to the analysis of hyperspectral data including available software tools and the generation of simulated EnMAP data. The workshop language is German. The workshop invitation including a preliminary programme is available here. __________________________________________________Job Opportunities are addedJune 1, 2010 A new menu for EnMAP related job opportunities are added to "Science" and will be updated regulary. Please be aware of the latest job announced by the Department of Geoinformation Processing for Landscape and Environmental Planning of the TU Berlin, Germany. Hyperspectral Workshop 2010 at ESA-ESRIN in FrascatiJuly 30, 2009 The European Space Agency (ESA), the German Aerospace Center (DLR) together with the German Research Center for Geosciences (GFZ), and the Italian Space Agency (ASI) are organising the Hyperspectral 2010 Workshop, to be held at ESA-ESRIN, in Frascati, Italy on 17- 19 March 2010.
The workshop will focus on the current and future hyperspectral / imaging spectroscopy capacity in Europe. It aims to combine the established user community of the ESA CHRIS Proba mission with the European and International user communities in preparation for the future hyperspectral missions PRISMA (ASI) and EnMAP (DLR/GFZ).

| First National EnMAP Workshop, October 13./14. 2009 in PotsdamMarch, 2009 The DLR Space Agency and the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) jointly organize the first national EnMAP Workshop. The workshop addresses scientific as well as application oriented users in Germany with the following objectives: 1. Early provision of information to potential users of EnMAP data about mission, hyperspectral imager, data products and data access. 2. Development of a national user community that specifically prepares and develops algorithms to fully exploit the EnMAP mission data with respect to science investigations and commercial applications.
The preliminary agenda foresees introductory presentations about mission, space and ground segment followed by discussions of thematically grouped research proposals in parallel splinter meetings. The workshop announcement requests interested users to submit research proposals until April 10, 2009. [see Workshop results]

| Kickoff for Phases C/D/E1November, 2008 Phases C/D/E1 of the EnMAP Mission have been started with contract signatures between DLR and Kayser-Threde GmbH on 11.11.2008. In these phases the design for the EnMAP space and ground segment will be finalized. Instrument and satellite bus will be built and launched. Launch is foreseen in 2012.

| Preliminary Design Review (PDR) sucessfully finished October, 2007 The Preliminary Design Review of the space and ground segment was finished successfully. It marks the end of Phase B of the EnMAP's Mission Preparation Phase. Main delivery is the baseline of a preliminary design of the mission elements including their interfaces (Space and Ground Segment).
|
| Kickoff for Phase BNovember, 2006 Phase B of the EnMAP Mission Preparation Phase has been started. The main objective is to develop a preliminary design and interfaces for the space and ground segment

| Selection of EnMAP Mission for the next phases2005 As a result of a successful Phase A study, the EnMAP has been selected by the DLR Agency for the next Mission Preparation Phases B/C/D.
| | Phase A study started
2004 With the lead of the GeoForschungsZentrum Potsdam, a team of value adders and international scientific partners jointly investigated the user requirements, focusing on current main environmental issues related to forestry, agriculture, land-use, geology, water systems, and associated science. Based on that and supported by simulations based on the detectability of relevant surface materials and objects in the spectral, spacial, and radiometric domain, suitable parameters have been defined forming the baseline for the system contractor.
| | Selection process for a future EO mission started2003 DLR Agency started a selection process for a future Earth observation mission. 9 missions have been proposed. The hyperspectral EnMAP Mission has been selected for a Phase A study.
