Prior to the launch of the EnMAP mission, the DLR Space Administration on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy has set up a research funding program to prepare data exploitation and application development for the mission. It is taking account of the fact that EnMAP will deliver a new quality of spaceborne imaging spectroscopy data that has never been reached before. The program includes:

  • algorithm development for essential ecosystem parameters
  • application development for a wide range of applications
  • summer schools for young scientists and,
  • airborne campaigns to acquire test data for EnMAP image simulations.

Since 2010 two calls within the EnMAP PhD program have been announced by the DLR Space Administration. An overview about the on-going and finished PhD projects and the projects running in the frame of the EnSAG is given below:
