The Escondida Mine, situated in Chile's Antofagasta Region at 2,500–3,000 m elevation, is one of the world's largest copper mining facilities. Set within the hyper-arid Atacama Desert, the site features large-scale open-pit excavations, tailings dams, and extensive processing infrastructure across a barren, mineral-rich terrain with virtually no natural vegetation.
